Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

We hope this short document of FAQ can help alleviate any questions or concerns you may have that several others have asked in the past. If not - please call us... we look forward to assing you to our growing client base.

A) HOW DO YOU DO PRICING?

Pricing for data recovery is tricky - only in that it is difficult to do over the phone until the subject media is tested by an experienced data recovery technician. We give an approximate range over the phone before seeing your media based on our experience and your data loss scenario. Once we have your media in-hand, we do a full analysis of your recovery, and call you with a price and approximate timeline. You can choose to go forward with the recovery, or choose not to go forward and we'll still pay return shipping to get the media back to you.

B) WHAT IS PHYSICAL vs LOGICAL RECOVERY?

DRC often speaks in our marketing about our unique ability to do both physical and logical recoveries. Physical recoveries require mechanical intervention, such as part tweaking or part replacement. Logical recoveries do not need mechanical intervention, they often need their file systems corruption removed so that the media is viewable by the user again. Still others require both recovery methods.

C) DO YOU HAVE A CLEAN ROOM?

Yes, and no. Here at DRC we have a simulated "clean environment" which is simply an in-house developed scaled down version of a clean room. It's hepa filtered and does the job to allow us to open media without exposing it to outside dust and other airborne contaminants. Building an ISO Certified clean room is viewed by the data recovery experts here at DRC as overly expensive and simply not required for this type of work. Our success in our simulated environment supports this 100%.
